Easay Hike

Hiking to Rattlesnake Ledge pretty much says, " I want a quick hike with nice views and I don't mind people." If any of these aren't true or you're looking for something else, you should find another hike.

My wife and I will be doing this hike later in the summer with friends. I'm in OK shape, she's not, …

Myself and my hiking sidekick, we'll call him "Pinchy the Hobbit", did a run into Talapus Lake on Saturday (05/17/08). We started up at about 6:45am... first ones up and out! The road up is good, there were some ugly potholes and washboards but nothing major. It was not possible to get all the way to the parking lot due …

I recently moved to Seattle from Dallas, and so it was a great experience on this hike. It was a first of a kind for me, so the excitement bar was kinda always too high! The views from the top were breath taking, and it was well worth the 3 hrs we took to go atop. (ya, most of us …

Started off on May 17th 2008 around 10:00 AM and got to the road leading up to the trail head at about 11:00 AM. All the cars could only go about 1/2 way up to the trail head before the snow came in and stopped us. After hiking to the trailhead which still has several feet of snow my group …

As of May 16, the trail was in good condition, a little muddy in places. It was 85 today and the trail seemed muggy. An avid hiker from Montana & Colorado with experience hiking 14'ers and 13'ers and a multitude of other dayhikes and backpacking trips....I rate this as moderate-strenuous. Erring towards strenuous. There are no level spots on the …

Hiked this yesterday, May 16, 2008. Started up at about 10:15 and encountered fewer crowds than I expected (much more on the way down). It was a Friday, but I was expecting a lot more people to do as I did and take the day off to enjoy the return of the sun to Seattle. This is about the longest …

An incredible hike!!! Not easy. Get to the trail head w/ at least 10 hours of daylight if you plan on hiking down the same day.

The rewards are worth it; lakes. waterfalls, views. I captured the pic of a lifetime of my dog. People tell me all the time that it looks like a postcard.

Coast Hike at Ozette · M.Allison · May 7, 2008

RATING:  4 stars because it was short and dealing with the tides was a pain. I like traveling long distances quickly and stopping when I have to not need to!

DIFFICULTY:  4 hikers because there's worse out there. Deffinately worth training a bit before going though!

Starting at Shi shi we soon came to realize that we were …

What a great hike! I just can't say that enough. My wife and I did this as the last day of a nine day trip to Vegas/Red Rocks and Zion. It was my third trip to Zion but first on this trail and I have to say it is one of the best hikes I have ever been on. Don't …

Beautiful hike...highly recommend it! Gets your heart rate up, but was not too demanding for inexperienced hikers. We did this hike a couple times in early summer. Beautiful, thundering waterfalls and bridges over the river accompany you throughout the hike. However, at this lookout point, there are granite slabs along the pathway which, if it is even WARM, will emit …

If you are looking for a casual climb that is easy with a great reward. This is it. Great view at the top. Lots of room on the summit. Bring a lunch and eat up there. This is what we did and I even packed up my 8 month old daughter. The 5 in the group had a great time.

2008 02-23 was a bad time of year to visit the Ice Caves. While I didn't make it all teh way to the top, I've been told that they are most likely not formed at this time of year anyway. As other reviewers have mentioned, the main bridge is out. (visitors told me it had been out for what they …

Beautiful trail. The waterfall on top is a plus. Little muddy in areas due to snow/rain. Enough room to pass. Enjoy!

My friend and I both hiked this trail on Feb. 14, 2008 and were not disappointed. I am an avid hiker but haven't hiked this trail too many times. I think this hike would be a lot busier in the warmer months and on weekends as it is pretty close to Issaquah/Seattle and had good parking.

It took us …

NOTE: The bridge is washed out. However, there is a fallen tree which makes for an easy crossing about 1/4 mile downstream from the old bridge. Easiest way to find it is to hike all the way to the Big Four picnic area, cut accross to the old washed out bridge then hike down stream till you find the fallen …

A hint of spring finally hits the mountainous west, snow starting to melt and warm enough to try a hike in the Utah canyon country. Arches National Park is in southeast Utah, near Moab, the mountain bike capital, and near where the Colorado river starts flowing though the famous canyons. One of my favorite hikes in …

The "Island in the Sky" is the north district of Canyonlands National Park, an area carved by the Green River from the north and the Colorado River coming from the east. There is only a narrow neck, wide enough for a road, that lets you get out there.

This remote island is in southeast Utah …
