I hiked the snow lake trail today. The sign at the bottom read the following "Trail to snow lake almost completely covered w/snow and has many sections of thin snow bridges on the trail to watch for especially near running water or boulder fields. The take is still 99% snow covered. The start of the switch backs is not marked, …
Myself and two others and a dog, Bridgett, completed this hike to Pratt in Mid-May and would probably recommend against doing this hike in mid-May unless you have some snow shoes and preferrably a GPS and or a topographic map (I used a topo map from the website linked to this website). There were about 5-6 feet of snow on …
We did this hike on 5/19/07 beginning at 11am. Based on online reviews, thought it would be a "easy to moderate" start to hiking season. We were in for a surprise. The incline is much more difficult than expected or from what I read in prior online reviews. Few flat surfaces, mostly just straight up! I saw many people head …
Did the hike on 5/29/07 with John. About 8 cars on the trailhead at 11:00am. 3 waterfalls and some old growth past the previous lumber road end at about .7 mile., and trail follws river entire way at various levels avove it from 20 ft to 750 ft. Some people camping near the river, about one mile in. First waterfalls …
We started the hike in quite a good weather. And with a hope to reach the top. We had to turn back a bit higher then a snow level. Snow melting on the trees make a strong rain even though overall weather is quite good. It makes a LOT of mud on the road and pretty cold shower. I had …
Did this hike with the kids this weekend and the area seems pretty overgrown though the falls was tumbing down at a considerable clip...
this hike is around 33 miles from point a to b. its definately not for the weak. there is a 200 ft vertical climb right before you get to shi shi beach which you must do twice before you round a headland and set foot on shi shi. if youre adventous this is definately a hike for you with plent …
Hiked it last weekend for the first time. To extend the length of the hike, I parked at the Little Si lot and walked up the road to the Mt. Si trailhead. Good thing I did, because the Mt. Si lot was already packed with idgets when I got there at 8:30 am. The trail was muddy and full of …
Me and four of my freinds decided to hike Mt. Si yesterday after finishing our last final exam. We made it to the base of haystack from the parking lot in 1 hr. 30 min. and back down in 1 hr, but we were keeping a pretty fast pace. We climbed to the top of the Haystack (which I highly …
It's definitely not a year round hike - it had a lot of snow in May and we couldn't continue beyond a point. So my rating is based on whatever we hiked - we didn't reach the lake.
The trail was not very well maintained (and I like it that way!) and some places it's easy to lose the …
I went on this trip with my 9th grade science class about 3 years ago. I really enjoyed the difficulty, it was easy at the beginning and got harder as you went up. The trail was well maintained and beautiful. Even in warm weather i would reccomend bringing a jacket cause under the shade of the trees it can get …
incrediable
The easy access to the trail head is nice & there's bathrooms! Which probably explains why it's so popular. The hike is pretty easy. If it's hot out wear lots of sun block, there's long stretches of the trail with no protection from the sun.
This is a strenuous hike, but if you like a challenge you'll be rewarded with stunning views. It took us 9 hours total. We got a late start, so we were hiking in the heat of the day and taking lots of stops on the way up to Rachel Lake. We did the hike in May & hit snow just …
This is one of my favorite places to come and because it is accessible pretty much year round it makes a good outing for those clear winter days. I should note however, that I never do this hike in the summer months unless its early on a weekday. All other times I advise you to simply take a dip in …
Yesterday I gave into the pressure to do Mt Si at least once in my lifetime as I had previously avoided it due to crowds. On the way up, I came up with the mantra: "do or die: climb Mt Si" which I thought was kinda catchy...good enough for a bumper sticker? Just kidding, it wasn't quite as much as …
We hiked Mailbox Peak on 3/25 and a month later on 4/28. In March, the upper section beyond the forest was covered in deep snow and views at the top were obscured by clouds or fog. Today, the snow is almost entirely melted aside from a few patches, but the trail is quite muddy and slippery in places. It's still …
I'd rate this hike a solid 3.5 stars. The access from I-90 couldn't be any easier, the trail is in good condition, and the views are fine. The trail is currently being reconstructed, a sign said there may be delays, but there were none on this Sunday. The sign board mentions restoring the meadow at the summit. Right now, it …
i found the west tiger 3 trail rather easy but i do a lot of hill and stair walking everyday. i was the only hiker that day who kept my 2 pups on their leashes. would have been great if everyone else had as well. at the top, what a great view. anyone who says otherwise, remember you can't get …
Oh my goodness. I am so sore. I don't think I will be able to get out of bed in the morning. After 2 Aleve and an Epsom salt bath, my feet are still weeping. This was a tough hike. Numerous times my 13 year old daughter and I wanted to turn around before making it to the summit. Every …
I was unable to complete the hike in July 06. I got to the 3.5 ft section where the drop off is 1200 ft on either side (no chains) and my mind played tricks on me. I was determined to make it on my second trip (April 07) and to my surprise the 3.5 ft wide section was extremely easy …
Thought we'd get a chance at a quiet hike since it was a wet to partial gray day. What we encountered was a circus. Ended up yielding the path multiple times to rude groups of yuppie trail runners and a group of power walking women who clucked incessantly like hens at the top of their lungs both with each other …
Nice hike....seemed like more elevation than just 1,600 ft, but, that is often hard to gauge. Great conditioning hike for people just getting back into hiking after a break. Nice trees along the way...fairly good view of Mt. Si at a few points.
