Pratt Lake · Lucien · Jun 28, 2009

Hiked this trail on June 26th, 2009 and snow was pretty much all gone. I started at Pratt trailhead and I concur you'd probably be better off starting at Talapus trailhead unless you like a bigger workout. Not too many people on this day but it seems everyone started at Pratt and I've heard the road to Talapus trailhead is …

Fiery Furnace · Debbie · Jun 20, 2009

We did the Fiery Furnace during the first week of June 2009. The weather was great and not too hot. Just because it's a short distance doesn't mean that it's easy. Much of this walk is slow going - waiting for everyone in your group to finish creaping through narrow spaces and over rock formations. You'll be walking up and …

Lake Serene and Bridal Falls · Zinger · Jun 19, 2009

This is truly a beautiful hike. The trail is good, the side trip to the falls is well worth it, and the lake is, well, serene. We lunched at the falls, which was perfect. I'd also recommend going early, mainly, though, because of this trails popularity. The few times I've hiked it, the crowds grew as the day wore on. …

Big 4 Ice Caves · Zinger · Jun 19, 2009

Maybe this is good if you have kids, but if you're into hiking there are many other snowy adventures that are much more worth the trip. If you're in the area and looking for something to do, fine, go to the ice caves, but I wouldn't make a special trip out to see them.

I've done this hike at least once a year since 4th grade (and I'm in my late 20's now). The scenery itself on the trail is beautiful, I take it slow and just enjoy my surroundings. The views from the top are the best in the park. For the last 10 years I've settled with stopping at the saddle, but …

I've been hiking in this park for years, but never did this trail due to the limited space in the parking lot. When I finally had a chance to do it last summer again the lot was full -- but actually didn't run into many people. During first half of the hike you are hiking next to an amazing river …

Lake Serene and Bridal Falls · Anonymous · Jun 16, 2009

This was one of the first hikes I ever did and I would love to get back and do it again. The trail starts off relatively easy but gets more difficult once you reach the rocky switch backs and steps, which aren't the most fun but from what I understand were created to replace the scramble up route used before. …

I went with a few friends on the 4th of July about 4 years ago. My friend Alicia said it would be a "medium" hike. This is physically very demanding and be prepared to scramble a bit. The views and the serenity at the top is worth the "death hike" as some friends referred to it. I personally enjoy a …

WOW! We were sent to Fort Lewis and we decided to try and make the most of our time here. I gathered up the guys and a gal. When we arrived it was about to storm but we didn't let that stop us. The entrance to the trail was quite inviting and sent our lungs into scavenger mode for any …

MailBox Peak · Shawn · Jun 12, 2009

I climbed Mailbox today. Wow, that was steap. The trail starts off easy and very quickly becomes steap. Look for the Diamond markers on the trees they will help you keep you way. There is still a small amount of snow close to the summit, but you only have to walk on snow two or three times for a couple …

This is the perfect little hike if you don't have much time, one that I have gone on countless times. The view at the ledge is breathtaking. If you want to push yourself harder the trail keeps going! You can go to the next peak (2 more miles up) or park a second car at the Snoqualmie winery and hike …

Middle Fork Snoqualmie River · Derrick · Jun 9, 2009

06/09/2009 We arrived at the trail head around 10am. The weather today was absolutely perfect. About 60-65 at the trail head, with a slight breeze. When close to the river you got a bit more breeze, and about a 5 degree temp drop. So that was perfect for my wife and I. The weather allowed great views of the river …

I had heard this hike was a thigh burner, and it did not disappoint. There was a very daunting sign at the trailhead warning hikers that search and rescue teams are often called to rescue distressed hikers . After reading this sign, I ventured forward but with a little more trepidation. The hike started out fairly benign, but quickly got …

Lipsy Creek & Otter Falls · Nathan · Jun 3, 2009

The trail up the side of Marten Falls goes to Marten lake, it's about 3 1/2 miles along a poorly marked, overgrown trail. However Marten Lake is truly magnificient at the top.

Lake Serene and Bridal Falls · Becca · Jun 1, 2009

Did this hike May 9, 2009. Trail is in good shape. Last part of the hike was hard packed snow, but without tracking poles, a bit tricky at a crossing. Conditions probably are easier now that it's a month since I've written this. Lake Serene was almost all ice, which was a minor disappointment, but only reason to come back …

We left trailhead at around 2.30 pm. Gorgeous day today to hike, and the summit was very pleasant (was comfortable in a t-shirt/shorts up top). No bugs, trail was pretty obvious. At the top there's still snow at the boulderfield.. maybe about 100-200 feet worth, but you could also just hike up the boulderfield or take the trail which goes …

Lake 22 · Becca · May 29, 2009

Memorial Day Weekend, 2009: Access to trailhead is clear. Switchbacks follow Lake 22 stream with several waterfalls, very scenic. There are several trees in the path, all are navigable. Last .25-.5 mile has packed snow; if I had a small child, would not attempt to go all the way to the lake. About half of the lake is covered with …

We have taken our kids on this hike in November 2007 when they were 7 and 9 years old. They loved it so much, we had to go again last year and without a doubt will be there this year as well. We thought that the assend to the Landing itself from Scout Lookout looks more much scarier than it …

Royal Basin · jaekster · May 25, 2009

If you are doing this as a weekender, it is highly advisable to take a jaunt up to the upper basin. Take a lunch and follow the small trail on the opposite side of the lake that you enter when arriving at royal basin. The upper basin sits at the foot of several peaks and the view is very unique …

Rattlesnake Ledge · anonymous · May 22, 2009

A rare thing these days to find a nice place in nature where all are invited. How nice to be able to bring along your friend and family member on a nice day hike where we can all get along as long as there are certain rules followed.

Such a nice hike and the view is spectacular.

Hiked this trail this last weekend for something new to try. Drive past it all the time but have never tried it. Saw the sign that indicated 3 miles and thought no problem I can do a 3 mile hike in and out. Didn't realize it was all up hill. Went gung-ho on Saturday only to poop out by the …
